RAWALPINDI: The district police have arrested four suspects and recovered weapons from them after a search operation was launched soon after an exchange of fire between two rival groups that left nine dead, all women and children.
According to details, Rawalpindi CPO Ahsan Younis along with his team and elite force launched the search operation in various parts of the city. Meanwhile, a special team headed by SSP Operations has been formed to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
In this regard, Rawalpindi CPO Ahsan Younis has assured that stern action will be taken against the people involved in the incident. The Rawalpindi CPO further informed that the case has been registered against the arrested accused.
On July 24, an exchange of fire was reported between two groups near the Chauntra police station, which left nine dead, including women and children, and a three-year-old girl injured.
According to details, five women and four children had died when members of an armed group barged into their house and opened indiscriminate fire. The children were aged between 1 and 3 years old, police said. Police claim that the incident was the fallout of an old rivalry.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had also taken the notice of the incident and ordered the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi to submit a report in this regard.
