KARACHI: The police have arrested 712 citizens for allegedly violating lockdown in Sindh’s capital.
Additional Inspector General of Police ( AIGP) Karachi, Ghulam Nabi Memon said that 215 cases have been registered against the 712 suspects in different police stations on the third day of the lockdown.Â
The police officer said that most of the people arrested have been booked under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Meanwhile, 70 people were arrested in Hyderabad, 10 in Mīrpur Khas, 90 in Shaheed Benazirabad and 39 in Sukkur.
Earlier, a groom was arrested for holding a marriage ceremony despite the lockdown in Punjab. The marriage ceremony was being held despite the enforcement of Section 144 in Punjab province. The police in this regard, the police upon being reported over the incident reached the occasion and arrested the groom and his father.
