Over 50 students were detained as the police in Islamabad used force to vacate Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) hostels on Tuesday.
As per media reports, the police intervened to end the hostel row between the QAU administration and the students.
On the QAU administration’s request, a large number of policemen vacated all four hostels and detained over 50 students after they offered resistance.
500 police personnel with 10 mobiles and 5 prison vans came to force out students from QAU hostels.
As per media reports, the policemen later shifted the detained students to a police station.
The QAU administration sought the police’s help after their repeated requests to students to vacate the hostels fell on deaf ears.
QAU, located in Islamabad, is one of Pakistan’s premier higher education institutions, known for its academic excellence and research contributions. Established in 1967, QAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across a range of disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
