LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League (Q) is divided over the dissolution of Punjab assembly which was announced by PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PML-Q leadership is discussing the dissolution of Punjab assembly with Members of provincial assemblies (MPAs) and other close aids, ARY reported citing sources.
The chief minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Punjab asked party MPAs whether they want to contest election independently or in coalition with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), sources said, but most of them want to participate in election in coalition with PTI.
A number of PML-Q leaders supported early elections but opposed dissolving the Punjab Assembly. The party member conferred authority on Pervaiz Ellahi based on diverse viewpoints.
Monis Ellahi, the son of Pervaiz Elahi, will also meet Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, according to reports.
Earlier, Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former prime minister, was advised to postpone dissolving the Punjab Assembly by Punjab chief minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi.
Sources say that Imran Khan is sticking to his position that immediate elections are the only solution to the problems facing the country.
