ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will provide a relief package for the construction industry amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The relief package for the construction industry was earlier announced by the prime minister. Through this, the construction sector would be allowed to operate fully despite a coronavirus lockdown across the country.
The move will facilitate laborers and other daily wagers to generate income for their families who are suffering due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus, which has claimed 35 lives so far.
Imran Khan while addressing an event earlier said that he will announce a big package for the industry on 3rd April (today). All other sectors correlating to the construction industry will also be incentivized, he added.
According to the prime minister, the biggest challenge for the government is to find a balance between social distancing and unemployment. For this, the government had provided a list of industries that need to remain open despite the lockdown, he added.
