ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will participate in a Telethon today to raise funds for the people affected by the coronavirus lockdown.
A Telethon is a television programme to raise money for a charity. It will be aired at 4:00 pm on the government and all the private channels.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan said that the Telethon for Corona Relief Fund will sensitize the citizens within the country and abroad to help in raising the fund. He said that the telecom companies are facilitating consumers to send SMS on 6677 to contribute their share in PM Corona Relief Fund.
The premier said, “Due to a vast number of affected persons, huge amounts will be required to help them.” He also urged philanthropists to actively participate in this fundraising campaign.
In a special video message broadcasted earlier, the prime minister urged upon the people to join hands with the government in fighting the challenge of COVID-19.
The prime minister said that the government was spending money to help COVID-19 lockdown affectees, however, they need more money to provide the rising numbers.
Earlier, the prime minister said that the Pakistani nation has always faced every challenge with enormous courage and commitment.
He asserted that the nation always supported the vulnerable segments of the society generously in testing times.
