ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Jhelum today to lay the foundation stone of the Jalalpur Sharif-Jhelum link canal.
The prime minister will visit Pind Dadan Khan where he will inaugurate Jalalpur Irrigation project and initiate his public contact campaign. He is expected to announce several projects and also address a public gathering.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen will attend the event.

The Jalalpur Sharif-Jhelum link canal project is a new non-perennial irrigation system for enhancing the agricultural produce in Pindadan Khan and Khaushab areas.
The concept of providing irrigation supplies to this area has been in consideration since 1930. It was originally planned by the previous government of Nawaz Sharif in Punjab. The canal will have a distribution system of 23 distributary channels, 10 minor canals and more than 780 hydraulic structures of various kinds.
The prime minister is also scheduled to visit Karachi on a one-day stay tomorrow where he will meet party representatives at the Governor House. He will also be given a briefing on the city’s law and order situation during his visit. The prime minister would hold meetings with party representatives and leaders of coalition parties.
