ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the federal cabinet meeting today to discuss a 5-point agenda tomorrow.
The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s office in Islamabad. The federal cabinet will discuss the political and economic situation of the county. During the meeting, the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on 10th June will b approved.
As per sources, the approval for the establishment of the COVID-19 fund under the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is also included in the cabinet agenda.
The cabinet meeting will approve the further amendments in the Children Act. The federal cabinet meeting will also discuss the situation arising out of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Moreover, the Punjab government will present over Rs 2.4 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 today. According to sources, the volume of upcoming Punjab Budget, which will be tax-free, is proposed above 2220 billion rupees with an allocation of 1780 billion for current expenditure.
Two sectors, Health, and education have been treated as a priority in budget preparation, sources added. The provincial budget proposes the allocation of Rs. 125 billion for primary health and Rs. 130 billion for specialized health sector with a seven percent increase in allocation.
