ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the National Economic Council meeting today over the budget proposals.
The meeting will be held at 1 pm today in Islamabad that will be attended by all the four Chief Ministers. Moreover, the meeting will also be attended by members of the Council and the federal ministers.
During the meeting, the budget proposals will be sought from the provinces at the NCC meeting, while the development budget for the next financial year will be presented for approval at the meeting.
In addition, the meeting will set a target for economic growth for the new financial year; the meeting will review the economic situation, while also reviewing the development expenditure of the current financial year.
Moreover, the business community leaders had asked the federal government to reduce taxes in the upcoming budget for the year.
A session with business community leaders related to the upcoming budget was chaired by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh where traders’ community leader Qasim Teli, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan and members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce gave suggestions to expedite business activities and create ease of business.
The traders also urged the government to create better business opportunities in the next budget, adding that the Federal Bureau of Revenue should issue tax refunds of traders.
