ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to attend the two-day Afghan Refugees Conference that will begin today.
The prime minister will inaugurate the conference which will be participated by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Other than the UN Secretary-General, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, Ministers, and senior officials from around twenty countries, will also participate in the conference at a dinner tonight at the Foreign Office.
The UN secretary-general arrived in Pakistan on Sunday on a three-day visit. He had met the refugees from Afghanistan, Yemen, and Tajikistan during an event in Islamabad. The refugees shared their experience in the education, business and skill development sectors with the UN chief.
There are around 2.5 million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan, making the country one of the largest refugees population in the world.
Most of the refugees live in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Balochistan provinces which border Afghanistan.
