ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address a pre-budget conference on Tuesday (today) to sensitize the private business sector and incorporate their valuable suggestions.
The conference on Business, Agriculture and IT will provide an opportunity for renowned businessmen, agriculturists, and IT experts to present recommendations from the business and export sectors and incorporate them into the next budget.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said a pre-budget business seminar was being held at the Prime Minister’s House wherein the entire business community would be present.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, she said the prime minister would preside over the event and incorporate valuable suggestions from the business community into the budget.
She said the country’s economy was going through an extraordinary crisis and input of all stakeholders was essential to rectify it. She also took a dig at the previous government for issuing an advertisement on the completion of its 100 days in office with the title ‘For the first time in the history of Pakistan’.
The Finance Division said Pakistan is currently facing several economic challenges, including accelerating inflation, large external deficits, exchange rate depreciation, declining foreign exchange reserves, and mounting uncertainty.
In addition, the prevailing global economic situation is also posing risks to the domestic economic outlook. The present government has inherited an economy with growing macroeconomic imbalances that have brought Pakistan to the brink of financial collapse.
To overcome this, the present government has taken steps in a short time to strengthen the economy, price stability, and maintain the sustainability of the external & fiscal sectors through various immediate measures.
The government is preparing the budget for the next financial year 2022-23 and it is the vision of the PM to make a progressive, developing, and people-friendly budget by fostering public participation in budget making.
Therefore, the government desires to partner with the business sector to ensure the budget reflects the expectations of the private/business sector and the public.
It added the private sector is the backbone of the economy and has the opportunity for the public and private sectors to contribute for the development of the economy of the country.
