Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on an official visit to Egypt on December 18 to participate in the Developing Eight (D8) Summit.
According to a report by Pak Observer, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that leaders from the D8 member countries—Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Indonesia—will gather to strengthen economic ties among member states.
During the summit, PM Shehbaz is expected to emphasize the theme “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy”. He will highlight the importance of youth investment and SME development in fostering a strong, inclusive economy, creating jobs, and driving innovation.
The Prime Minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the D8’s core values and advocate for enhanced cooperation in areas such as agriculture, food security, and tourism. He will also attend a Special Session focusing on the humanitarian crisis and reconstruction efforts in Gaza and Lebanon, where he will address the consequences of Israeli aggression in the region and call for peace in the Middle East.
The Ministry further stated that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the 21st Session of the D8 Council of Ministers. PM Shehbaz and Ishaq Dar are also scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with global leaders during the visit.
