ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condoled over the deaths in a fire engulfing two villages of Sindh’s Dadu district.
At least nine people including six children had died after a fire engulfed two villages in Tehsil Mehar of Dadu district, following the gusty winds in the area after a dust storm.
The prime minister and assured the victim families that the federal government would take measures for their relief. He directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to provide all possible support for the rehabilitation of the victim families.
He also assured that he would also take up the matter with the Sindh government and call for a financial relief package for them. The prime minister sympathized with the villagers and also conveyed his grief over the loss of their properties. He also prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss.
At least nine people including four children were killed and over 75 houses were reduced to ashes in a fire caused by a wind storm in Dadu last night.
Fire also broke out after the dust storm in Tehsil Khairpur Nathan Shah which engulfed more than 100 houses in village Faiz Muhammad Chandio due to which four children were burnt alive and several other were wounded.
The deceased were identified as four-year-old Mour, five-year-old Abdul Rasool, six-year-old Tehmina and eight-year-old Sakina. On the other hand, several other persons were wounded when they attempted to bring the fire under control on self-help basis.
The local police shifted the dead and injured to hospital. Fire brigade and rescue teams failed to reach the affected villages after passage of more several hours.
