Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid a pivotal visit to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Headquarters in Islamabad amid escalating regional tensions, particularly along the eastern border with India.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and the chiefs of Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force, the prime minister received a comprehensive security briefing.
The session focused on conventional military threats, hybrid warfare tactics, and terrorism proxies in light of India’s increasingly aggressive posture. Regional security dynamics and preparedness against emerging threats were also discussed in depth.
The civil-military leadership emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, inter-agency coordination, and enhanced operational readiness to ensure a robust and timely response to any breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
PM Shehbaz praised the ISI’s strategic contributions, stating, “The entire nation stands firmly behind our brave armed forces. The Pakistan Army is among the most professional and well-organised forces in the world.”
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to national defence, the leadership expressed full confidence in the country’s armed forces and their ability to protect Pakistan’s dignity and territorial integrity in coordination with all elements of national power.
