ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has met US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad today in the federal capital.
During the meeting, the prime minister said that Pakistan has facilitated the Afghan peace and reconciliation process.
The prime minister further said that we genuinely believed that after Afghanistan it would benefit the most from peace and stability in that country.
The prime minister during the meeting underlined that sustained peace, stability in Afghanistan would contribute positively to connectivity and regionally.
Zalmay Khalilzad earlier on 1sty week of February visited Afghanistan to meet its President Ashraf Ghani over the US-Taliban peace talks had entered a new phase.
Washington and the Taliban have been attempting to settle a peace deal that would ensure the withdrawal of foreign troops in exchange for the movement’s guaranteed that the country would not become a safe haven for terrorists.
In Afghanistan President, Ashraf Ghani’s government has struggled to contain the Taliban movement for almost two decades.
