ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Program in Islamabad today [Monday].
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the premier said that the program will help around 20 million families to cater to their kitchen needs. It was not easy to work on different projects under the Ehsaas banner, but the government wants to empower women, PM Khan said.
Imran Khan said the price hike is an international phenomenon. He however said Pakistan is still ranked amongst one of the cheapest countries in the world. He said prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan are lower when compared with Dubai and other countries of the sub-continent.
Earlier, Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar said the first phase of registration for Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Program has been completed and messages are being sent to 9.2 million deserving families in a phased manner to avail the targeted subsidy through four thousand utility stores. She said the registration of retail stores is also continuing so that the deserving families could avail the targeted subsidy through them.
Under the Prime Minister’s vision of poverty alleviation, thirty percent monthly subsidy will be provided to twenty million families on daily use items.
The targeted subsidy programme will effectively lower the price of essential commodities like wheat flour, cooking oil, ghee and pulses.
Under the programme, 106 billion rupees will be spent on provision of subsidies to 20 million eligible families.
The Kafaalat Cash Assistance Program worth 71 billion rupees will also be started under Ehsaas Kafalat Scheme.
