ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended a cordial invitation to his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa for a visit to Pakistan.
As per details, Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa had a telephonic conversation on Friday.
During the telephonic conversation, PM Imran Khan felicitated Mahinda Rajapaksa on his party’s success in the recent elections and assured him of Pakistan’s full cooperation in all fields. Both leaders agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations.
On this occasion, the COVID-19 situation and its negative impacts on economy industries and politics were also discussed.
According to reports, both the leaders discussed bilateral matters and deliberated upon the strategies to further strengthen the ties.
On June 25, Prime Minister Imran Khan had made a telephone call to Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, during which a discussion on the situation arising out of the COVID-19 epidemic and current situation in Kashmir was held.
On this occasion, PM Imran had underscored the need for global efforts to move forward the process of progress and development. He had apprised the president about the steps taken by his government to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matters pertinent to bilateral ties, debt relief for the developing countries, regional situation and other issues had been discussed.
