ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has lauded the tireless efforts of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for national security and expressed his satisfaction over the professional preparedness of the premier spy agency.
During a visit to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Secretariat on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan was given a briefing on the security situation in the country and the region, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.
They were received at the ISI Secretariat by Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, according to a press release by the Prime Minister’s Office. According to a press statement, the national and military leadership was given a comprehensive briefing on the regional and national security situation on this occasion.
Prime Minister Imran appreciated the ISI’s “diligent efforts for national security and expressed his satisfaction over professional preparedness”.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had visited the headquarters of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and received a detailed briefing on regional and domestic challenges.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar and Special Assistant to PM Dr. Moeed Yousuf were along with the prime minister during the visit.
According to a statement, “A comprehensive briefing was given to the prime minister encompassing complex regional and domestic challenges with special focus on Pakistan’s efforts for restoration of peace and stability.”
On the occasion, PM Imran said, “No effort would be spared for national security and sovereignty.” PM Imran also paid rich tribute to the services of the country’s spy agency and lauded its sacrifices and tireless efforts. Upon arrival at the headquarters, ISI Director General Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid received the prime minister.
In March, Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. General Faiz Hamid called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the PM Office in Islamabad. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, matters pertaining to national security had been discussed during the meeting.
Five publicly known meetings between Prime Minister Imran and the army chief and ISI director-general have taken place in the past couple of months under this format.
