LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended greetings to Muslims around the world and overseas Pakistanis on the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
“Eid-ul-Azha symbolises the spirit of sacrifice, equality & compassion,” he said in a meeting on Eid-ul-Azha being observed in several countries around the world including the Middle East.
“It fosters unity by reducing socio-economic inequalities and creates the feelings of empathy and complete surrender before Allah Almighty. A true observance of the ritual demands of us to adopt a life of piety and cleanliness,” he said.
The prime ministered extended heartiest greetings to Muslim and overseas Pakistanis who are celebrating this festival today. “May Allah bless their lives with peace & prosperity! Ameen.”

The nation will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Thursday (tomorrow) with religious fervoir to commemorate the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for well-being of Ummah and progress, prosperity and security of the country. Eid prayer congregations will be held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages.
The ulema will deliver Eid sermons and will highlight the significance of the philosophy of great sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS). People will offer sacrifice of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
Federal and Provincial governments have chalked out an elaborate security arrangement across the country to ward off untoward incidents. Civic authorities of different cities and towns have also made special arrangements for disposal of offal and other solid wastes during the Eid days.
