ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended his greetings to the Hindu community on the festive occasion of Diwali.
In a tweet, the prime minister wished the Hindu community a happy Diwali. “Wishing all our Hindu community a happy Diwali,” he said.
The Hindu community is celebrating the festival of lights Diwali on Thursday (today). The Hindu community will light up earthen lamps in the night and fireworks will also be exhibited to celebrate the festival.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended greetings to the Hindu community all over the world on Dewali festival.
Extending greetings to the Hindu community, Chairman PPP said Diwali festival is a symbol of victory of good over evil. “We need to understand the message of Diwali, which teaches us that no matter how powerful evil is, its defeat at the hands of unwavering determination and constant struggle is inevitable.”
Bilawal said that PPP had always supported minorities to observe their religious rites and celebrate festivals with freedom.

The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on November 4 for the festive occasion of Diwali.
According to the notification, issued by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah, the holiday has been announced across Sindh for Hindus.
Hindus make up a small minority of about 1.96 million, or 1.2% of Pakistan’s population. Most of them live in rural Sindh, especially Thar, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas.
In Sindh, apart from Karachi, the Hindu community living in Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Jamshoro, Badin, Sanghar, Hala, Tando Adam, Shahdadpur, and other cities and towns are also celebrating Diwali with religious spirit.
