ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to release ill and elder prisoners who were not convicted in any heinous crime.

Asad Umar shared the news on Twitter, he said, “The decision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to release ill prisoners over 65 years of age who were not convicted in any heinous crime has once again proved that the government’s top priority is the poor class of the country.

The newly elected minister added that this would be the first step towards such a Pakistan where the same laws exist for both poor and rich people.

Asad Umar on 19th November took oath as the Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives returned to the federal cabinet today by taking an oath.

Umar replaced Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar as minister for planning and development, while the Bakhtiar has been given the petroleum portfolio.
