ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Indian security forces along the Line of Control targeting civilian population in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister saluted the Pakistan Army for their bravery, valiance, and giving a befitting response to Indian security forces.
At least six civilians and a Pakistani soldier were martyred while nine other civilians were injured as a result of Indian shelling from across the border.
The prime minister prayed for the martyred Pakistani soldier and six civilians and speedy recovery of those injured. He saluted the courage of the Pakistan Army for giving a befitting response to the Indian forces.
Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation, deliberately targeting civilians in Jura, Shahkot and Nousehri sectors, said the ISPR.
Pakistan army effectively responded, killing nine Indian soldiers and injuring several others, whereas two bunkers were also destroyed.

During the exchange of fire, one Pakistani soldier and three civilians were martyred, whereas, two soldiers and five civilians wounded, said the ISPR. The martyred soldier was identified as Lance Naik Zahid. The injured civilians were shifted to district hospitals.
“Targeting innocent civilians by Indian Army is an attempt to justify their false claims of targeting alleged camps,” said the ISPR about alleged launchpads being targeted by Indian forces.
The military’s press wing added that UNMOGIP as well as local and foreign media have access to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), unlike Indian-Occupied Kashmir which is underway a brutal lockdown and communication blockade.
“Pakistan Army shall protect innocent civilians along LOC & inflict unbearable cost to Indian Army. Indian lies to justify their false claims & preparations for a false flag operation will continue to be exposed with truth,” added the ISPR.
