GWADAR: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday arrived in Quettas on a day-long visit to the city and Gwadar to inaugurate the development projects and address the tribal elders.
On his arrival at the Quetta Airport, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizinjo and senior government officers received the prime minister.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa were present at Staff College Quetta where the prime minis the prime minister joined them.
PM Shehbaz then headed to Gwadar where he would inaugurate the Eastbay Expressway and take an aerial view of the project.
He would also address the tribal elders as well as the fishermen. An interaction with a delegation of Chinese companies as well as media representatives is also on his agenda.
PM Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate Gwadar Eastbay Expressway and a 1.2 MGD (million gallon per day) Water Desalination Plant. He is also expected to announce uplift package for fishermen of Gwadar.
Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Naseer Ahmed Kashani said all arrangements have been made for unveiling of the projects.
Eastbay Expressway is a dedicated CPEC artery linking Gwadar port to China. It aims to provide primary connectivity between the port and the Free Zone I and Free Zone II with Makran Coastal Highway (N-10) and Motorway 8 (CPEC’s Western route) for logistic transportation to Khunjerab border of China.
The road marking, installation cat-eyes, erection of boards of signage & direction signs and installation of cameras has been completed with precision.
GPA has already conduced successfully its test run in a smooth manner. Arounf 1,300 locals have been employed since the project stated
The Water Desalination Plant, spreading over approximately one acre, is being constructed with Chinese grant of Rs2 billion to ensure uninterrupted supply of potable water.
The plant is supposed to complete in 12 months. The 1.2 MGD Water Desalination Plant project will be enough to meet water demand of the Gwadar city and Gwadar port.
