RAWALPINDI: The military and civilian leadership have paid glowing tributes to Major Tufail Muhammad on his 65th martyrdom anniversary.
Major Tufail Muhammad, the second recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly at Lakshmipur sector in East Pakistan in 1958.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Services Chiefs paid glowing tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad.
The ISPR said Major Tufail Muhammad’s martyrdom anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan to defend the motherland.
“Let us remember these heroes who have laid down their lives in defence of our motherland. The nation is proud of its gallant sons,” it said.
On the occasion, a floral wreath was laid on the grave of the martyr. A smartly-tuned contingent of the armed forces also paid homage.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tributes to Major Tufail Muhammad on his martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement, the prime minister said Major Tufail did not even care about his life for the safety of the country.
He said the entire Pakistani nation pays homage to Major Tufail for his sacrifice. He said the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs.
