ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has lauded the business community for transferring funds and first salary to the widow of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara, who was brutally killed after blasphemy allegations.
“I want to appreciate the Sialkot business community for transferring $ 100,000 to account of Priyantha Kumara’s widow & Rajco Industries for transferring monthly salary of $ 2000 to her account – which they will do for 10 yrs,” the prime minister said in a tweet.
The business community and the company Rajco, where Kumara was employed, have transferred funds worth $100,000, along with a first salary worth $1,667 have been transferred to the bank account of his widow in Sri Lanka.
The prime minister had earlier announced that the business community in Sialkot has accumulated $100,000 for the family of the deceased and will continue to send his salary to his widow.

Priyantha Kumara, working as a manager at a private factory located on Sialkot’s Wazirabad Road, was tortured to death in December by a frenzied mob after being accused of blasphemy.
Workers of the garment industry alleged that the manager had committed blasphemy. He was subsequently lynched and his body was set on fire. The mob had also vandalised the factory and blocked traffic.
The brutal murder had drawn widespread condemnation from senior government officials including the prime minister and president, as well as the military’s top leadership, who vowed to bring justice.
Police had arrested more than 100 suspects and registered a case in this regard and a case has been registered under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
