LAHORE: A Karachi-bound passenger plane made an emergency landing on Monday after facing a bird strike soon after taking off from Lahore.
The flight PA-401 was on its way from Lahore to Karachi when the incident occurred. The plane suffered mechanical and bodily damage. However, no passengers were affected by the untoward incident.
The plane made an emergency landing at the Lahore airport after its flight was interrupted by a bird strike. The airline has yet to comment on the incident and to assess the damages. After landing, the passengers are being taken back to the lounge and it will board another flight.
A similar incident occurred on July 14 an airplane was hit by a bird at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
A flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was struck by bird while landing on the runway. The PIA Boeing 777 aircraft, PK-6202, from Sharjah was hit by a bird while attempting to land at Lahore airport.
The captain of the plane managed to safely land at the airport. A PIA spokesperson said that one of the engines of the plane was damaged.
According to the airport manager, flocks of birds were heading towards the airport due to heavy rainfall. The officer said that some planes were stopped to take flight in view of safety measures.
He added that the pilot of PK-6202 has reported the presence of birds around the runway, however, shooters at the airport warded off the birds.
