The Pakistani rupee (PKR) saw a slight appreciation against the US dollar (USD), rising by 0.06 percent in the interbank market during Monday’s trading session.
Before 10:30 AM, the local currency was trading at Rs279.05, marking a gain of 16 paisa against the greenback.
So far in the current fiscal year, the PKR has declined by 86.84 paisa or 0.31 percent against the USD. Since the start of the calendar year, the rupee has depreciated by 65.96 paisa or 0.24 percent.
The PKR weakened by 16.4 paisa against the US dollar last week, closing Friday’s session (February 14, 2025) at Rs279.21 per USD. During Friday’s session, the local currency had appreciated by 5.44 paisa or 0.02 percent in the interbank market compared to the previous closing of Rs279.
Against the Japanese Yen, the PKR fell by 1.83 paisa or 1.01 percent, closing at Rs1.8287 compared to Rs1.8104 the previous day.
Against the British Pound, the PKR declined by Rs1.66 or 0.48 percent, settling at Rs351.04 from Rs349.37 a day earlier.
The PKR gained 1.37 paisa or 0.02 percent against the UAE Dirham, closing at Rs76.02.
The rupee depreciated by Rs1.17 or 0.40 percent against the Euro, closing at Rs292.26 from Rs291.09.
