QUETTA: A police officer has been killed during an attack on a polio team in Pishin, some 700 km from provincial capital Quetta. Officials said the polio team remained safe.
According to initial details received here, the incident happened on around 8:40 am this morning when unknown gunmen opened fire on a polio team in Killi Tarata, Pishin district of Balochistan.
Police said Head Constable Muhammad Hashim S/O Ghulam Muhammad, Belt No- 125, was gunned down in the attack in Sector -3 at Kill Tarata Pishin. The Deputy Commissioner Pishin said that the deceased was on his duty with the polio team in Killi Tarata.
DC Pashin said SP Pishin reached on spot and cordoned off the area and started searching for the arrest of unknown gunmen.
He further said that after legal proceedings in DHQ Pashin, the body has been shifted to Quetta for post-mortem.
