The Sindh government has formally inaugurated the People’s Pink and Normal Taxi Service, a public transport initiative aimed at empowering women and enhancing travel safety across the province.
In an official announcement on social media, Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon staid that the initiative seeks to transform the public transportation landscape, promote gender inclusion, ensure safer commuting options, and encourage the use of environmentally friendly transport solutions.
Describing the launch as a “historic milestone for Sindh,” Mr. Memon—who also oversees the transport and information portfolios—reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing the province’s transport infrastructure and providing equitable access for all citizens.
He further said that efforts are underway to streamline ride-hailing operations in Karachi by bringing various services under a unified regulatory framework. Speaking at a transport department meeting, he said, “We are working to integrate all online taxi services in Karachi under a single, modernized system.”
