Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume flights to the United Kingdom after Eidul Fitr, following the European Union’s decision to lift its ban on the airline. This marks a significant step forward for PIA’s operations.
Dr. Mohammad Faisal, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, announced that flights will initially operate from London and Manchester to Pakistan, with plans to restore flights from Birmingham in the near future. A special ceremony has been organized to commemorate the occasion.
This development comes after PIA conducted its first flight to Paris on January 10, 2024, ending a four-and-a-half-year hiatus caused by the EU’s ban.
The ban was initially imposed after a PIA plane crash in Karachi and concerns regarding pilots’ certifications.

Efforts to expand PIA’s services coincide with the airline’s ongoing privatization process, which is reportedly gaining momentum.
Major groups such as the Arif Habib Group, Taba Group, and YB Holdings have expressed interest in acquiring the airline, signaling potential transformation ahead.
