ISLAMABAD: Passengers of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have been deprived of breakfast and food despite the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority, which has angered the passengers.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has allowed food to be provided on domestic flights from October 1.
According to sources, passengers on PIA’s Islamabad flight PK300 were not given breakfast.
During the flight, the passengers were found with only a bottle of water on their seat. The one-way fare to
Islamabad was taken up to Rs 15,000 and no food was provided.
Passengers were outraged that breakfast and food were not provided on the flights despite the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the decision to provide food on flights was taken after a reduction in the coronavirus cases. Earlier it was reported that the PIA has stopped serving meal and water bottles to the passengers.
Within first quarter of the new fiscal year, the Economic Coordination Committee (CCI) of the Cabinet on approved about Rs44bn to Pakistan International Airlines.
The ECC also approved about Rs44bn additional financial support to PIA. This included $130 million (about Rs22bn) financial arrangement to meet its immediate liabilities. Simultaneously, the committee also enhanced PIA’s guarantee limit by Rs22bn to raise financing from commercial banks.
