KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) flight scheduled for London failed to take off from Islamabad International Airport due to a technical fault in the aircraft.
As per details, PIA’s flight no. PK-9785 was scheduled to take off for London’s Heathrow airport 9 in the morning, but failed to depart and the passengers were kept on waiting at the waiting lounge.
After failing in fixing the technical fault, the PIA administration cancelled the flight and asked the passengers to leave for their homes after making them wait for 12 hours.
The sources have claimed that the flight was cancelled after the engine of the newly inducted leased aircraft leaked. On September 17, the United Kingdom (UK) had removed Pakistan from “red list countries” for international travel after five months, British High Commissioner Christian Turner had announced.
Christian Turner wrote on his official Twitter handle: “Pleased to confirm Pakistan is off the red list. I know how difficult the last 5 months were for so many who rely on close links between Pakistan & UK.”
He had said he was grateful to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, Federal minister Asad Umar and the Pakistan health ministry for their close collaboration.
