ISLAMABAD: The management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a set of instructions for its cabin crew and staff members after the disappearance of two flight attendants in Canada.
According to a statement issued by the airline’s flight services, the cabin crew is required to deposit their passports with the station manager after immigration and customs formalities. The passports will be returned passports at the time of check-in on departing flights.
Apart from this, hotel security will be activated to ensure that everyone checks in on arrival and any shortfall will be immediately reported, The hotel staff will ensure every cabin crew member checks in at the hotel and will report immediately if they find anyone missing.
The cabin crew has been further instructed to restrict their movement due to the pandemic and no one will be allowed to stay out of the hotel premises at night.
It has been reported that two flight attendants have slipped away in Canada. A PIA flight steward went missing in Canada soon after the airline’s flight PK-798 landed in Toronto on Friday.
The steward boarded the PIA flight from Islamabad and disappeared upon arrival in Toronto. A spokesman for PIA said that the steward had gone missing on Friday after the flight landed in Toronto.
The flight attendant Ramzan Gul boarded the national flag carrier’s flight from Islamabad in the capacity of the aircraft crew, confirmed the PIA spokesperson.
According to the details shared so far, PIA Canada’s station manager has already apprised the airport authority of the steward’s unannounced absence.
The flag carrier has taken notice of the missing steward and will conduct a departmental investigation into his going missing. PIA authorities said they have also informed the Canadian immigration authority about the missing crew member.
