PHC releases JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah on bail

ABBOTTABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayat­ullah has been released on the bail on the orders of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

A two-member bench of the high court based in Abbottabad comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard the bail petition which had been filed by the JUI-F.

Just after his release from the jail, the politician departed for Islamabad along with party workers to participate in the Azadi March being led by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Kifayat­ullah was arrested by the Islamabad police on Sunday on charges of influencing people for participation in the anti-government ‘Azadi March’ and collection of donations for the protest.

The JUI-F leader’s arrest came a day after the signing of an agreement between the government and the JUI-F-led opposition regarding the venue of the Azadi March in Islamabad.
