The federal government of Pakistan on Friday decreased the price of petrol by one rupee per liter to Rs. 254.63 against Rs. 255.63. The new price is for the next fortnight and will be effective from March 29, 2025.
“The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices of petroleum products, based on the price variations in the international market,” said a press release issued by the finance ministry.
However, the government kept prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD) unchanged at Rs. 258.64, the press release added. The federal government had previously maintained petroleum prices on March 15 for the fortnight.
It should be noted that the crude oil prices have significantly dropped in the international market, however, the government of Pakistan did not transfer this decrease to the consumers and instead increased the lavy on petroleum product by Rs. 10 per liter.
As per sources, the government has decided to transfer this relief to the consumers in the electricity prices and soon an announcement will be made in this regard.
