LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi have suffered a double setback after leg-spinner Usman Qadir and all-rounder Ben Cuttings tested positive for Covid-19, several media outlets reported on Tuesday.
The Wahab Riaz-led side defeated Lahore Qalandars in the super over on Monday to gain a little momentum ahead of their knockout game against Islamabad United.
Following the match, a media outlets while quoting sources reported that three members – players and a coaching staff member – of the Zalmi squad were tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Players include Ben Cuttings and Usman Qadir, while, the team mentor Hashim Amla, is reportedly infected for the virus. The positive members will have to isolate themselves for seven days, as per the Pakistan Cricket Board protocol.
This means that both the players are going to miss the playoffs due to the protocols and will be available if Peshawar Zalmi qualify for the final of the HBL PSL 2022.
