KARACHI: People have demanded justice for a woman who allegedly gang-raped by three accused at gunpoint in Karachi.
Saima Parveen, a resident of Islamabad, said that she met an NGO worker named Hina Kanwal with whom she soon became friends. Hina assured her of getting a job as soon as possible in Karachi.
According to the victim’s statement, the next day the woman, Kanwal called her to Karachi from Islamabad. However, as soon as Saima reached Karachi, some accused started harassing her in front of Hina Kanwal in a company.
An accused named Nasir Abbas and other his accomplices raped Saima twice and kept her in custody for two hours at gunpoint. She was later dropped off at a bus stop and they fled the scene.
On the other hand, the police also refused to take further action after registering a case against the accused. According to Saima, the SHO of Karachi Company threatened the girl to withdraw the FIR for supporting the accused.
Justice has become today’s top trend for Saima on social media. A social media user, Asif Shahzad said in his message on Twitter, “Another day another same story. Saima was a hardworking woman just wanted to get the job to pay her expenses”.
“But she got raped on gunpoint in a company in Karachi. Now, police are forcing her to sign consent papers @BBhuttoZardari#justiceForSaima”, he added.

New case old story.
We live in a country where raping innocent women and children has become common. Why are we taking this so lightly? May God curse all those who think raping people is fun.#justiceForSaima#justiceForSaima pic.twitter.com/zb6CcTcH32— farrwahz (@farwahmasood) September 19, 2020
