KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi has accused the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) of “blackmailing Pakistan and its institutions” in order to get relief from the corruption cases against their leaders.
While addressing a press conference at Insaf House today, Naqvi said the opposition wanted an NRO but Prime Minister Imran will never agree to give one. He said that the PTI had come to power with the promise to establish justice in the country and arrest politicians who were involved in corruption.
He was accompanied by PTI Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman, Senior Vice President Mahmood Maulvi, General Secretary Saeed Afridi, Sindh Assembly members Jamal Siddiqui, Shehzad Qureshi and PTI leader Arsalan Faisal Mirza.
The PTI leader said that the alliance has been speaking against the armed forces and the judiciary and was aiming to spread chaos in the country. At the same time, however, he said that the opposition alliance had “no future”.
“Oppression is taking place in Kashmir and PDM is engaged in politics. Pakistan Army is the greatest army in the world. Whenever India looks down on Pakistan, the nation stands behind Pakistani forces”, he added.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi added, “We are not afraid of India’s tactics. Let Modi hear that Pakistan is a peaceful country. India also tried to break Pakistan in past. What will be the expectations of those who talk about breaking Baluchistan?”
The opposition was causing harm to the country by targeting national institutions, he added. “We stand behind our institutions and will not tolerate any such comment which will endanger our security or the people that stand for it,” he added.
Later on, PTI Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman said that PTI will hold a rally tomorrow with people’s strength to pay homage to Pakistan’s forces.
He said the gathering will be a rally not only of party workers but of the entire people. “The purpose of the rally is to send a message that we are with our forces in Pakistan. Twelve political parties aim to humiliate Pakistani forces”.
“The agenda of the PDM is to stop the development of Pakistan. The Prime Minister’s efforts have brought stability to the economic situation. We highly condemn the words used by Ayaz Sadiq. People are watching what the mission of PDM is”? he asked.
He added that they want to push the country backward. Slogans of independent Baluchistan were chanted at the rally in Quetta. No PDM leader has issued a statement condemning Ayaz Sadiq’s statement, Zaman added.
Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi submitted a letter to the French embassy against the blasphemous sketches and statements of the French President.
