The ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Friday announced staging a sit-in outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad on May 15 (Monday) against Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial for allegedly “facilitating” and giving “VIP protocol” to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
Addressing a press conference after the alliance meeting, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman alleged that the country’s Constitution, law and everything have been put at risk for the sake of the PTI chairman.
During the presser, the PDM chief — who is also head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) — said that the top court ordered not to take action against Khan for the incidents after May 9. He added that the judiciary was giving rulings beyond the Constitution.
Blasting the apex court, the PDM chief said the no leniency was given to three-times prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Fazl said even Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo was not provided telephone to inquire after the health of her ailing wife — Kulsoom Nawaz.
“Was this kind of leniency given to Maryam Nawaz or Faryal Talpur?” the JUI-F chief asked. But on the other hand, Khan was being given “VIP protocol”, he added.
The PDM chairman further announced that they have decided to stage a protest against the “behaviour” of the Supreme Court.
Fazlur Rahman accused the court of protecting criminals. He stated that Imran Khan was arrested in an embezzlement case.
The PDM chairman announced that protest against the judiciary’s conduct will be staged, and urged the entire nation to participate in a sit-in outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad to express strong opposition.
The JUI-F chief also urged his supporters to leave their current activities and head towards Islamabad, stating that they would respond with force if anyone tried to stop them.
Moreover, sources privy to the PDM meeting said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has directed top party leadership to hold rallies across the country against recent decision announced by the judiciary.
In this regard, Maryam Nawaz has been given task for rallies in Lahore, while the PML-N supremo directed the party leadership to choose place for massive power show.
He directed the PML-N leadership to hold massive rallies in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Kasur.
Power shows will also be held in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, KP, Quetta and Karachi.
