LAHORE: After receiving a severe backlash, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rectified its video on cricket legacy and included cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.
The PCB was highly criticized after erasing former captain Imran Khan who took Pakistan to glory after winning the 1992 World Cup.
The cricket board also omitted other players who have made the nation proud in the sport. Former cricketer Wasim Akram took an exception with the move and demanded an apology.
In the latest video, the board said it has launched a promotional campaign leading up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
“One of the videos was uploaded on 14th August 2023. Due to its length, the video was abridged and some important clips were missing. This has been rectified in the complete version of the video,” it mentioned.
The new version of the video also includes former captain Misbah-ul-Haq leading Pakistan to number one in the Test rankings for the first time in history
It also includes female cricket Nida Dar becoming the first Pakistani player to claim 100 T20I wickets. The video also features Pakistan’s gold medal triumphs in the Asian Games of 2010 and 2014.

PCB had received a backlash after not featuring former cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in a video about the legacy of cricket
The previous video doesn’t even mention captain Imran Khan who spearheaded Pakistan to victory during the 1992 World Cup and made history.
The video features 11 images of the event but omitted any reference to Imran Khan including the iconic moment of him lifting the coveted trophy which is embedded in memory.
The PCB instead focus on the contribution of Inzamam-ul-Haq who scored 60 runs from 37 balls against New Zealand.
Social media users slammed the PCB for the omission. The #ShameonPCB has become the top trend on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
They said the PCB can hide truth and deny the role of Imran Khan in the World Cup and cricket history of Pakistan. The legendary cricketer is being ostracized from media after a fallout with state institution and is currently imprisoned.
