MM News has learnt from multiple sources that Najam Sethi-led management terminated the contract of chief selector Mohammad Wasim and disbanded all committees formed under the now-defunct 2019 constitution. This was the first decision the new chairman took after taking a charge on Thursday.
It may be recalled that a 14-member committee, headed by Sethi, was established by the government, which is led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), to oversee PCB operations for 120 days prior to the 2014 constitution’s election period. The cabinet approved replacing the PCB’s 2019 constitution with the 2014 legislation.
