The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the appointment of Abdur Rehman as the national’s team new spin bowling coach.
The new coach is expected to strengthen the team’s bowling unit ahead of the eagerly awaited Test series against the West Indies men’s team.
The two-match series is expected to commence on January 17 in Multan, allowing a narrow timeframe for Abdur Rehman to implement his strategies or train the players.
The new spin bowling coach is a former international cricketer, who represented the country across all formats from 2006 till 2014.
He is a left-arm orthodox spinner, and made his debut against South Africa in 2007. Throughout his test career, he took 99 wickets with an average of 29.39. His best performance was taking 6 wickets for 25 runs.
In the one-day international (ODI) format, the spinner played 31 matches, where he claimed an impressive 30 wickets at an average of 38.06.
In the realm of T20 International (T20I), Rehman participated in 18 matches; he secured 20 wickets.
The Pakistani cricketer’s coaching credentials include a previous stint with the women’s team, where he played an important role in guiding the young team.
