PCB accepts its shortcomings in opening ceremony of PSL 5

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepted the shortcomings of that occurred in opening ceremony of Pakistan Super League season 5 and stated that they will learn from their mistakes.

According to a press release issued by PCB today (Monday), PCB said, “There have also been shortcomings and learnings but these were not unexpected,” adding that it was the first major event in Pakistan ever since 2008 Asia Cup.

The press release said, “Hosting of any opening ceremony presents its own challenges. While a number of Pakistan cricket fans have been vocal in their disapproval about elements of the ceremony, a sizeable number of followers were pleased with the display.”

It further stated, “PCB is keen to learn from these experiences to further improve the quality of events in the future.

PCB also thanked Karachi and Lahore fans for embracing the first-ever complete PSL in Pakistan by almost filing the stadiums.

The board said, “PCB is overwhelmed with the excellent spectator response and turnaround at the two venues for the first seven matches,” adding “PCB is grateful to all the spectators for supporting its vision and endeavour.”

Referring to national heroes, PCB said, “PCB has paid its respects to various national heroes and stars as part of their initiative.”

“This all started with the legendary Jahangir Khan unveiling the trophy a day before the kickoff,” board added.

The event has now taken a two-day break and will resumes on Wednesday, 26 February, when Multan Sultans host Peshawar Zalmi at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
