The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a prolonged gas shutdown schedule for several areas of Karachi on Sunday.
During the outage, a 31-kilometer gas pipeline will be connected to the system. According to the shutdown announcement, SSGC has stated that gas will be unavailable from 5 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday in various areas of the port city.
The affected areas include Surjani Town, all sectors of North Karachi, Manghopir, Qasba Colony, Orangi Town, and all blocks of North Nazimabad. Additionally, the announcement specifies that FB Area, Gulberg Town, Bafarzone, SITE Industrial Area, Baldia Town, Maripur, Gulshan-e-Mamar, Ahsanabad, SITE Super Highway, and surrounding areas will also experience the shutdown.
According to officials, the gas outage is due to development work involving the connection of a 24-inch diameter, 31-kilometer-long gas pipeline to the system.
It is important to note that nearly all areas in Karachi have been facing low gas pressure for many years, and some places also experience gas load-shedding at night.
