MARSEILLE: Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo has been fined 90,000 euros for appointing too many women to management positions at city hall.
Anne Hidalgo mocked the French government decision after she was fined for appointing too many women. However, as per law, she breached a 2013 law that sought to achieve greater gender equality in the workplace.
Eleven women were appointed against only five men, with a percentage of 69%. While the 2013 rule allows only 60 percent of appointments for one gender. Anne Hidalgo said she was happy to announce that the penalty was because the management of the city hall has, all of a sudden, become far too feminist, she maintained.

Anne Hidalgo asserted she believes that the fine is absurd. “It is unfair, irresponsible, dangerous,” she was quoted saying. The mayor defended her decision before the Paris Council and said that she believes there is still a delay in the general promotion of women in France.
