Medical professionals have criticized the latest trend on TikTok, which involves parents smashing an egg on toddlers’ head, indicating the potential damage to babies.
The prank trend involves inviting one’s toddlers and young kids to cook eggs with them, only to break one on their head, leaving them utterly surprised and confused.
Several videos have surfaced online that show parents cracking an egg on the foreheads of their unsuspecting children and recording their reactions. While some children are seen laughing, some were seen bursting into tears in confusion. Meanwhile, parents are seen laughing out loud.

The phenomenon has gone viral, despite it causing some of the children to cry or leaving them looking upset and stunned. In some instances, the child throws an egg back at the parent.
While some on the internet found it funny and suggested it’s all in good fun, others said it’s borderline child abuse. Meanwhile, critics have claimed that parents are exploiting their kids for views.
Dr. Mary Karapetian Alvord, director of the Rockville, Maryland-based Alvord, Baker & Associates, LLC — and a psychologist specializing in treating children, adolescents and adults — agreed that the problem with the egg crack challenge relates to social media use combined with the idea of mindful parenting.
“As young toddlers, they’re forming bonds and trusting relationships with parents,” Alvord, who recently released the book, “The Action Mindset Workbook for Teens,” told Fox News Digital.
“Some may think it’s funny, but I would say to parents, ‘What’s the message you’re trying to give? What’s the outcome you’re seeking, and the emotional response you’re trying to have?'”
