KARACHI: Former Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi said that the issue of Palestine must be based on internationally agreed parameters.
Maleeha Lodhi in a tweet highlighted the Palestinian dispute, “Pakistan’s longstanding position is that resolution of the Palestinian issue must be based on internationally agreed parameters & pre-1967 borders as enjoined by successive UN SC resolutions The Trump plan flies in the face of this international consensus.”

She further wrote, “Any acceptable or sustainable solution of the Palestinian dispute must emerge from negotiations, not unilaterally, and with the consent of the Palestinians. Trump’s Middle East plan fails this test too.”

Lodhi bid farewell to her position in November 2019. In February 2015, Lodhi was appointed by former premier Nawaz Sharif to serve as the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Pakistan to the UN in New York City.
Lodhi is one of Pakistan’s prominent diplomats. She has been named as an international scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center and, in 1994, Lodhi was named by ‘Time Magazine’ as one of a hundred people in the world who will help to shape the 21st century.
