Pakistan’s female MMA fighters, Eman Khan and Bano Butt, clinched gold medals at the 2024 Asian MMA Championship.
Bano Butt claimed her gold by defeating Kazakhstan’s Gulnaz Abdrakhmanova in the senior women’s Atomweight final, following an impressive knockout victory over India’s Khushboo Nishad in the semifinals. Eman Khan also shone, securing her gold by submitting Kazakhstan’s Dinara Ayapova with a first-round rear-naked choke.
In the men’s division, Team Pakistan encountered challenges. Zeeshan Akbar fought bravely but fell short against a Kyrgyzstan opponent. Shahab Ali was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Neimat Assadov in the senior men’s Lightweight category, and Abdul Manan lost in the junior men’s Flyweight final.
Overall, Team Pakistan secured six medals—two golds and four silvers. Teams from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan topped the medals table with seven golds each, followed by Bahrain with three. Both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan earned two gold medals each.
