ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that Pakistan’s current account has come out of a deficit after seventeen years.
“For the first time in 17 years, exports and remittances exceeded our imports,” Fawad Chaudhry wrote in a Tweet he posted.

He said that the government has also reduced the expenditure which has obviously reduced the expenditure. Fawad Chaudhry wrote that only when expenditure is low and income is high can we move towards economic self-reliance.

According to him, the remittances grew by 9 percent over the previous month. Earlier this month, PM Imran Khan expressed optimism and said that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the good news is coming to the economy.
He said remittances were up 31 percent from last September and more than 9 percent since August, the fourth month that remittances had exceeded 2.2 billion.
