KARACHI: The number of COVID-19 cases has surged to 7,025 in Pakistan while the pandemic has claimed 135 lives.
According to the National Command and Control Center, more than 497 cases of coronavirus were reported in the country while 11 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
Around 41 new cases were recorded in Punjab in the last 24 hours. A partial lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spread of the infection. On the other hand, Sindh has imposed a stricter lockdown as compared to other regions.
As many as 1,645 patients have recovered from the disease, however, the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
The worst-affected Punjab province has a number of 3,276 COVID-19 cases. The number of 35 patients has died in the province so far. There are 2,008 coronavirus cases in Sindh, while 45 patients had lost their lives.
The total confirmed coronavirus cases in Balochistan is 305, while 5 patients had lost their lives in the province. The number of 993 COVID-19 cases were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 45 patients died.
So far 245 patients have been infected with the virus in Gilgit-Baltistan, while 3 have died. The number of 145 COVID-19 cases was registered in Islamabad, 01 died in the capital and 46 people have been infected with the virus in Azad Kashmir.
